Easter Sunday Caching

April 16, 2006 @ 7:27 pm

It is getting warmer, the snow is quickly disappearing. In fact, there is hardly any snow left. This Easter weekend was blessed with some outstanding warm weather. Great weather for yard work, ya right. Let’s go caching!

Sunday we went out looking for a couple of caches North of Sioux Lookout. The Sharron Creek cache was our first attempt and find.

What better thing to do on Easter then a high tech Easter egg hunt? This was our first target. I just love the way the road is cut through the rocks and then passes across Mills Creek and the marshland below. I have yet to make it there when Walley spawn, but I have seen spawning sucker before. I had no idea the creek existed on the opposite side of the highway. It’s a great scenic spot. We worked our way along the creek to the cache location, the long way around so to speak. When we opened the container the ball literally popped out of the box. Angel grabbed it immediately and “slobbered” it well. So we took the ball and left a Grinch pin.

Next we did some off roading with the family van. E.P. Hoey Road is actually quite nice. Except for one little dip where the “nose” of the van slightly scraped the road.

Find number two of todays Easter egg hunt. Pretty nice drive into the site, even with the family van. Ok, one spot generated some crunchy noises where van parts contacted that road that were never meant to… Very easy find, just walked up to it and there it was. Took nothing and left a couple of simm sticks.

We then proceeded to place a couple of new caches. First we headed towards Pelican Falls where we placed (you guessed it) Pelican Falls (official page). All the blown down trees where a little bit of a downer. It made it much harder to find a hiding place for the cache. It also makes the area a bit less scenic and attractive.

After Pelican Falls we continued on to Hudson. There we placed Above The Tracks (official page) as our last caching event of the day.
